Just got this ad in my email from Del Taco who teamed up with Naked Dog Bistro in Laguna Beach, CA to create all natural dog treats which will soon be available for sale on the Del Taco webstore.
For a long time I’ve been a proponent of feeding dogs fast food, and my late great pup Logan especially loved Del Taco value tacos (without the shell.) I believe he lived over 16 years in part because of this diet and I fully endorse this step toward more unity between the humans and canine worlds.
My wish came true. Last summer Carl’s Jr. ran a crazy promotion, offering $1 Western Bacon Cheeseburgers every Wednesday through July. Well, my local Arizona location is offering them again. I am expecting this deal to, again, run through July.
Carl’s is currently advertising the WBC and their new Western Fries with “western bacon cheeseburger seasoning” so the deal is timely. I’ll check it out today, but if it runs like last year expect a 4-burger limit per purchase.
EDIT: My local Carl’s Jr. confirmed this deal will run through the third Wednesday of July.
The McDonald’s mobile app works pretty well and has many features unique to this mega-chain. In addition to the requisite specials and locator is the ability not only to order food but to track your arrival at the restaurant for car-side delivery (if your local store is so-equipped.) For more on our experience with the McDonald’s mobile app, read on.
I just had to share this adorable kid’s-sized order of chips from Chipotle. What a cute little bag. And you may be surprised to learn that there was a decent amount of chips inside, maybe 15 or so. Plenty for one person.
Bookending this post are obligatory shots of an international Big Mac, this time from Madrid, Spain. I found this particular sandwich to lean more toward the vinegar side for their Special Sauce. The effect was a fast food burger that was rather bland in flavor. I lean on the sweetness and tang of the Special Sauce to offset the very dull taste of McDonald’s standard burger patties. That was lacking here. Oh well, the worst Big Mac is still better than a lot of other foods!
Let’s take a look at the menu:
For a limited time, McDonald’s rolled out another food item with a name that’s quite a mouthful: Sweet N’ Spicy Honey BBQ Glazed Tenders. Whew. The marketing says these are “hand-tossed and glazed to order.” Maybe, but what are these like in real life?
El Pollo Loco recently introduced a series of $5 “Craveable Combos” – each with a main menu item plus a side of chips and a soft drink. There are four such combos right now:
Above and below are pics of the burrito version.
Feast your eyes on the most perfectly prepared McDonald’s fries I have had in ages. Where did I find such wonderful, golden brown, crispy delight? At DFW airport in Terminal C. Wow. I probably hit it just right, but they were ON THEIR GAME that day. Outstanding.
Over the early part of the summer Carl’s Jr. was doing something crazy. They offered the Western Bacon Cheeseburger for $1 on Wednesdays. The deal ran through the end of July, but it was incredible. You could buy up to four at the price and no additional purchase was required.
Carl’s Jr. seems to recognize the toll that their ever-increasing menu prices are having on the everyday consumer. In addition to this special, the popular $5 All Star meals and a number of other rotating special prices (e.g. the California Classic) are giving guests at least a couple of affordable alternatives to their bigger ticket items. Insert applause.
