The GOOGLE search box on the left side of the home page now searches FastFoodSource.com exclusively.  This should make finding your favorite restaurant information easier.  Note, there will still be sponsored ads at the top of the results - I can't help that!

Just a short post today.  I found this interesting:  Tyson, the poultry giant, is now featured on Del Taco window clings.  I just saw this one advertising the Chicken Soft Taco, "Made with Tyson quality chicken."  I don't know about you, but to me this isn't a selling point and is a bit more of a distraction than anything else.

When FastFoodSource.com launched way back in 2000, the Internet was still young.  One of my personal desires was to have a single site where I could see the menus for all the restaurants I went to locally.  But the web has changed quite a bit in the last dozen years.  Now, pretty much every restaurant has menu information online.  While they normally do not include prices (which we do) they often include convenient links to nutritional information that I have never had a desire to maintain.

So, rather than continue to update the menus (a manual process which requires me going to each chain on a regular basis), FastFoodSource will instead link to each chain's own online menu info.  What I may do is open up the comment area for each chain and allow you, the loyal reader, the ability to add prices in your area.

What will FastFoodSource become?  Pretty much what it already is, a blog where people who are fast food fans can gather and discuss the latest trends and tasty new offerings.  As we continue into our second decade, we hope you will continue to enjoy, and find useful, FastFoodSource.

Checking out the new Outlaw Burger at Jack in The Box, I fully expected a clone of the popular (and delicious) Western Bacon Cheeseburger from Carl's Jr.  I was pleasantly surprised.  The Outlaw Burger packs a punch, with lettuce and tomato up on top so as not to distract you from the real stars: a big beef patty, two slices of cheese (including one under the meat so your tongue tastes it first), two onion rings, bacon and BBQ sauce.

The sandwich comes in a paper wrapper, so you know right off the bat I approve.  Manageable in size makes it easy to handle; the Outlaw Burger is delicious.  I found the bacon, cheese, onion ring and meat coexisting in mouthwatering harmony.  The lettuce and tomato on top added juciness that Carl's Western Bacon Cheeseburger sometimes lacks.

Nutrition-wise, the Outlaw Burger rates 722 calories, 328 from fat, 14g of saturated fat, and 1800mg of sodium.  This exceeds Carl's WBC (740, 310, 14 and 1500, respectively) in almost every category.  But, slap a second slice of cheese onto Carl's sandwich and you are in a nutritional dead heat.  Besides, what do you expect from a burger with cheese, bacon and onion rings?

I'm not sure if the Outlaw Burger is here to stay or just a limited promo.  But I, for one, welcome it as a worthy addition to the stable of great burgers from Jack in The Box, right up there next to the Ultimate Cheeseburger.
